The Croatian Football Federation (Hrvatski nogometni savez) was founded on 13 June 1912. It was affiliated to FIFA for the first time on 16 July 1941. When the Republic of Croatia achived its independence, the Croatian Football Federation was reaffiliated to the World football federation on 3 July 1992. As a temporary member, HNS was affiliated to UEFA on 25 July 1992 with a full membership as from 17 June 1993.

Until 1990 Croatian national A team has played 20 international matches, with 10 wins, 4 draws, 6 defeats and a goal difference 47:33.

Since 1990 Croatian national A team has played 190 international matches, and gained specially valuable score of 101 wins, 54 draws and 35 defeats, with goal difference 323:179.

Croatian women's national A team has played 76 international matches, achieving 31 wins, 9 draws and 36 defeats, with goal difference 132:161.

Croatian national futsal team has played 107 international matches, achieving 55 wins, 9 draws and 43 defeats, with goal difference 342:318.

All Croatian men's national youth teams have played 763 international matches, achieving 393 wins, 183 draws and 187 defeats, with goal difference 1295:771.

All Croatian women's national youth teams have played 52 international matches, achieving 20 wins, 6 draws and 26 defeats, with goal difference 77:115.

Croatian national futsal youth teams have played 19 international matches, achieving 7 wins, 7 draws and 5 defeats, with goal difference 47:41.
